The Real Data Project
Creating Community with Insights from the Real World
Rapid insights, public education, and evidence-based findings for the community
The Real Data Project is a collaboration between the Network of Applied Pharmacognosy (NAP) and MoreBetter Ltd that aims to transform how we understand the evolving landscape of cannabis and other natural medicines using real world data and community engagement.
While laboratory and clinical studies are essential, they often fall behind the real world priorities of medical patients and adult consumers who would benefit from faster, more accessible information.
The Real Data Project bridges this gap by collecting, analyzing, and openly sharing the real-world evidence that is directly reported form people actually using natural products in their everyday lives.
This is an open collaboration with the community, other industry organizations and partners, and academic researchers. If you are interested in getting more involved, email: info@appliedpharmacognosy.org and put [Real Data Project] as the title!
The Real World Data Exchange (“R-Dub”) Platform
Analyzing and sharing data from thousands of people having real experiences with real products.
-
View continually updated dashboards generated from real world studies (see below). The first available community dashboard is the world’s largest and most inclusive infused beverage consumer study. Coming soon are dashboards including NAP’s 2024 longitudinal dataset, cannabinoids and sleep, and more!
-
QuickLog makes it easy to record your personal experiences with different natural products and see how it changes over time. The QuickLog functôn of R-Dub allows you to track what product is used, the dose, the method of use, intended purpose and effects. Regularly tracking experiences with QuickLog can help improve understanding of how specific prodcuts are working for you and where there’s room for improvement.
-
R-Dub brings together thousands of real-world users and their experiences. Participants gain access to trends emerging from large, diverse datasets and are first to hear about any opportunities to learn more and engage with the research team analyzing the data. Sign up for educational webinars, learn about in-person research opportunities, and join the conversation around real world data in natural medicines!
Data that Matters, Immediately - Highlighted Findings
The mission of this project is to create the most inclusive real-world natural medicines data-sharing community and increase transparency through open data and public dashboards. The ongoing collaboration between NAP and MoreBetter has already yielded interesting and impactful real world information that advances evidence-based conversations around cannabis and other natural medicines. Some highlighted datapoints include:
16% of daily consumers can’t feel edibles (Blog, NAP longitudinal dataset)
91% of autistic participants used cannabis daily or multiple times per day, with 60.7% combining with pharmaceuticals (Blog, NAP longitudinal dataset)
There is a significant overlap of LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent medical cannabis communities who face increased financial barriers to access and reduced ability to homegrow (LGBTQ+/ND Data Poster, NAP longitudinal dataset)
Cannabis infused beverages led to significant reductions in stress (44.53% reduction), anxiety (46.8% reduction), and depression (50.08% reduction) (Blog, MoreBetter Infused Beverage Dataset)
About 70% of participants felt infused beverages kick in 40 minutes or less (Blog, MoreBetter Infused Beverage Dataset)
At the low-moderate dose range of 5-10mg THC, there were few negative experiences. The probability for negative experiences increased when increasing dose and with combining infused cannabis beverages with alcohol or with another form of cannabis (Blog, MoreBetter Infused Beverage Dataset)
